* Acupuncture Super Point *

Name: SHANGGUAN GB-3

Translation: Above the joint

Location: 3rd point of the gallbladder channel

This miraculous point SHANGGUAN treats the 3 torturous T's as I like to call them: 1) Trigeminal Neuralgia, 2) Toothache, 3) Tinnitus. All of them notoriously difficult to treat and so distressing that patients may accidentally overdose on painkillers while trying to manage their symptoms at home.

Western Medicine for all its wonderful benefits has few adequate treatments for the symptoms of Trigeminal Neuralgia and Tinnitus and waiting for a dental treatment for even a few days can be too much with a severe Toothache. SHANGGUAN can provide a dramatic reduction in symptoms and the effects accumulate with each subsequent treatment.

This superficial point is located just above the zygomatic arch of the facial bones that runs between the cheekbone and the ear - as demonstrated in the illustration. It is in close proximity to the branches of both the trigeminal and facial nerves.

In terms of meridians and Chinese Medicine it overlies the meeting point between three different channels: gallbladder, stomach and Sanjiao. This makes it an unusual and pivotal acupoint.

If you are suffering with one of these torturous T's then I highly recommend a course of acupuncture with SHANGGUAN GB-3.
